The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and government, community, public health, and law enforcement partners are holding a nationwide prescription drug "take-back" day. On September 25, 2010, collection sites around the country will take any expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for safe, legal, and environmentally friendly disposal.

Each month in Chesterfield County, nearly 300 teenagers receive their driver’s licenses in a courtroom ceremony. Accompanied by a parent or guardian, the teens, who represent a diverse cross-section of the community, are addressed by a juvenile court judge during the proceedings. During one such ceremony this past winter, the Underage Drinking Task Force of Substance Abuse Free Environment (SAFE) conducted a survey with parents and students regarding underage drinking. Though this survey has been conducted before, this is the first time that parents were included, painting a stronger portrait of how the behaviors associated with young people are perceived.
